1017 '08 Fly-In

To get to the Rose airport by car, take NY Thrughway I-90 to Route 414 (Clyde/Waterloo exit), and go North about 15 miles to Lakes Corners Rose Valley Road in Rose NY. Turn West and go about one-half mile to a big barn on your right. You should see signs about the event. (see map below)

Schedule of activities
Friday July 11th, 12:00 Noon

* Official opening day of Fly-in
* Aircraft arrivals and registration (Bring your tie-downs)
* 12:00 Noon: Weather briefing (updates as needed)
* 12:00 Noon: Fly-Mart open
* 4:00-6:00 PM: Food service starts (hots,burgers,Sausage,drinks)
* 5:30 PM: Pilot briefing (all pilots attend)

Camping registration - $5.00 nightly fee. (primitive)
Camp Master: Roger Blondale (please pay on arrival)
Please abide by all signs posted for the flight line.
Saturday July 12th, 7:00 AM

* Aircraft arrivals and registration (Bring your tie-downs)
* 7:00 - 11:30 AM: Pancake Breakfast
* 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM: Fly-mart open
* 8:00 / 8:30 AM: Pilot briefing (pilots flying please attend)
* 12:00 PM: Till ? Lunch served at the food service area
* 1:00 PM: Spot Landing Contest (Ultralight and Sport Plane)
* 4:30 - 6:30 PM: Dinner served at the food service area
* 6:00 PM: Pilot briefing
* Huge evening bonfire- (musical entertainment if available)

Camping registration - $5.00 nightly fee
50/50 Raffles held throughout the day
Fly bys all day (none scheduled)
Sunday July 13th, 7:00 AM

* Aircraft arrivals and registration (Bring your tie-downs)
* 7:00 - 11:30 AM: Pancake Breakfast
* 8:00 AM: Fly-mart open
* 8:00 AM: Pilot briefing
* 12:00 PM Till? :Lunch served at the food service area


50/50 Raffles held throughout the day
Fly bys all day (none scheduled)

Reminder: Pilots are responsible for proper documentation for pilot & plane.

Light Aircraft Flyers Marty Vanderlinder gave a great presentation at the January meeting! He brought a setup for installing safety wire in various configurations. (Thanks to George Gagne for the photos below!) He brought plenty of wire and everybody had a chance to try their hand at twisting a little wire. Thanks for the demonstration and the hands-on experience, Marty! (click on photos for full size)

► The chapter elected new officers for the upcoming 2 years at the December meeting. The officers for the 2008-2009 are as follows:
President: Bill Volcko
Vice president: Charlie Tyler
Treasure: Steve Reyner
Secretary: Franc Francis
With the election of new Directors, the chapter's slate of Directors now also include:

► The big news for this month continues to be the “Home of EAA Chapter 1017”. The chapter agreed to recommend that the directors meet with the new owner of the red hangar at Whitford's and report back with information about possibly retaining that as a summer meeting place. The directors met with Keene Christopher at his place of business in Weedsport and then met separately (at the red hangar thanks to Franc) to discuss options.
